Cost of Yacht Charters in Istanbul

Yacht charter rates in Istanbul vary depending on several factors, such as the type and size of the yacht, the length of the cruise, and the season. The busiest and priciest months are July and August, when demand peaks and the Bosphorus becomes a hub of maritime activity. Spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) have milder weather, fewer crowds, and more attractive rates - making them ideal for those seeking value without compromising on experience.

Although week-long charters are common, booking a longer charter can often provide better value with potential discounts. To secure the best yacht options, it’s advisable to book well in advance, as this increases the likelihood of finding a high-quality yacht and gives more room for negotiating rates. For spontaneous travelers, last-minute bookings can yield good deals, although options may be limited.

An additional 20% Turkish VAT is levied on the base charter fee, as per prevailing regulations. Moreover, most charters operate under the Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) system, typically set at 30–35% of the base rate to cover expenses such as fuel, food, and port fees. This allowance covers fuel, catering, beverages, mooring fees, and other expenses. Any unused amount is refunded post-charter, while any overages are charged separately - offering transparency and a seamless voyage.

The best time to embark on a yacht charter in Istanbul spans from May to October, when the city’s unique coastal charm comes to life. July and August mark the height of the season, with warm weather and a lively atmosphere both onshore and at sea. For a more tranquil journey, late spring and early summer - particularly May and June - offer calm seas, blooming landscapes, and fewer crowds along the Bosphorus and the Princes’ Islands. As autumn approaches, September and October bring softer sunlight, warm waters, and a sense of refined stillness - perfect for indulging in Istanbul’s maritime beauty in complete comfort.
