AMELS YACHTS HISTORY
Founded in 1918 in Vlissingen, Amels Yachts is firmly rooted in Dutch shipbuilding history, beginning its industrial journey with wooden fishing boats, steel tugboats, and coasters, and evolving into one of the world’s foremost builders of luxury superyachts. The launch of Amels’ first superyacht — a 48.2-meter KATALINA — ushered in the ongoing growth of the Amels fleet, known for elegance, craftsmanship, and innovation. In 1991, Kommer Damen, a second-generation owner of Damen Shipyards, had purchased Amels and successfully integrated it into the family shipbuilding empire while maintaining the identity of Amels. Notably, Kommer Damen's platform shipbuilding strategy revolutionized the yacht building process, providing efficiency, consistency, quality, and dependability in a yacht constructed to the owner’s satisfaction. Since 2003, all Amels Yachts have been built in Vlissingen with 1,500 skilled craftsmen. Today, under Rosè Damen, the third generation of the Damen shipbuilding family, Amels continues to innovate through sustainable, new designs, including the Limited Editions 60 and 80.
AMELS YACHTS PHILOSOPHY
Amels Yacht's philosophy centers on delivering luxury, quality, and efficiency to clients by combining Dutch craftsmanship with innovation and a focus on "bringing time on the side of everyone" through their semi-custom Limited Editions and Full Custom superyachts. Key elements include master craftsmanship, timeless design, proven naval architecture, continuous evolution based on owner feedback, and a world-class after-sales service.
AMELS YACHTS MODEL LINES
Amels Yachts produces three main types of superyachts: Limited Editions yachts, Full Custom yachts, and Xplorer. The Limited Editions line, characterized by its modular approach and designer exteriors, includes models like the recently launched Amels 60 and Amels 80, and previous models such as the Amels 180, 200, 206, 220, and 242. Amels also builds Full Custom yachts, which are unique, one-off projects such as the 82-meter Ilona and the 78-meter Montkaj. The Xplorer line focuses on long-range, adventure-ready superyachts designed for global exploration. Available in the Xplorer 60/ 80/ 105 models, these yachts feature reinforced hulls, extended cruising ranges, and spacious, functional interiors, combining comfort and modern design.
LIMITED EDITIONS
The Amels Limited Editions series melds successful engineering with bespoke luxury to produce classic superyachts constructed on proven naval platforms. The Amels 60 series — first launched in 2019 — features Espen Øino’s sleek styling, refined interior spaces, and hybrid propulsion for efficiency. The flagship Amels 80 — debuting in 2025 — enhances space, range, and sustainability with Sinot’s serene interiors and Øino’s striking exterior. Both models include large sundecks, beach clubs, and private areas for the owner, representing the balance of innovation, elegance, and sustainability to produce distinguished cruising experiences throughout the globe.
FULL CUSTOM
Amels FULL CUSTOM stands as a statement of individuality in yachting, where every line, layout, and detail is shaped by the owner’s vision. With over half a century of experience in large-scale luxury builds — including work with Jon Bannenberg — Amels has created landmark superyachts like BOADICEA and MONTKAJ. Owners draw on in-house design and engineering expertise, collaborations with leading designers, and innovations from the Damen Research Laboratory, ensuring comfort, quiet performance, and sustainability. Backed by the Netherlands’ largest climate-controlled facilities and drydocks, Amels FULL CUSTOM produces distinctive, high-quality yachts on schedule and to specification.
