DENIKI is full of surprises – from the outside she looks just as you’d expect, a smart superyacht with blue hull, white superstructure and an inviting-looking sun deck, but take a closer look. There is a nice circular Jacuzzi forwards with a round sun pad echoing its shape; beneath the pagoda-like mast head there’s a good-sized dining table. The barbecue is a good extra, if not too surprising… it’s the aft sun beds that hold a secret. This is no passive lounger- this is a massage waterbed! This unusual touch hints at what’s to come within. The main deck saloon is a wonderfully eclectic, gorgeous cabin. A bit oriental, maybe neo-classical – or Deco-inspired? All of the above? What is certain is that this is a very inviting, opulent, fascinating space, with intricately adorned wooden furniture, plush velvet upholstery, a dramatic and very solid carved wooden table with heavy wood and leather chairs. Even the floor is inlaid and cross-panelled adding texture and interest. This might mean you are less surprised by the master suite – but it is still jaw-dropping: the walls are covered in trompe l’oeil silken swags, with dark wood panelling and crocodile leather; the study is astonishing with zebra stripes and sinuous shapes. By now the sky lounge shouldn’t disappoint – a lighter space with grey ceilings and walls picked out with golden columns and lighter panels edged with black-and-white checks. Soft black sofas hug the centre, giving way to silver and cream bar stools at the mosaic-topped bar. Out on deck, the dining area is heated to take the edge of any evening’s chill. DENIKI is a unique and dramatic yacht, yet her style has substance; the guest suites are oases of calm, her layout as practical as it is special.
