OVERVIEW

NAIA is without doubt a very special yacht. Her facilities alone are impressive – this is a bona fide research vessel with a wonderful five-person submarine, a commercially licenced helipad and working laboratory. But this is no austere explorer – this is a fully-loaded luxury vessel. The interiors are wonderfully organic with a host of natural materials: hemp rope, woven leather and bamboo; hewn stone and wide wooden floorboards conjure a vision of exploration. When you add indigenous art and sculptures, like the scarily lifelike Komodo dragon, you have the distinct impression of an interior something akin to the lovechild of Indiana Jones and a chic Parisian designer… Innovation extends into the layout of NAIA; her uppermost deck is devoted to the master suite, complete with private deck space. The master bathroom is another show-stopper with a carved stone bathtub sitting beneath a glass skylight… Just below, the sun deck doubles as the helipad; stylish sofas and chairs convert this expanse into an open sun lounge, in contrast to the enclosed forward half of the deck with its glorious observation lounge. Another departure from the norm is the positioning of the main saloon on the bridge deck rather than the main deck, which is instead given over to guest accommodation. This saloon is a delightful space, columns wrapped in rope are a welcome nautical touch, there are retro leather chairs and long sofas, the bar has woven rattan chairs straight from a far-Eastern speakeasy. The large open-plan space is also home to indoor dining options, but guests are likely to be drawn to the on-deck options. NAIA is a superb boat, a research vessel destined for exploration, resonating with its naturalistic interiors to create something very beautiful. Together with a rule-breaking layout, this is a superyacht reimagined to deliver the ultimate charter adventure.
