Willy Persico, a Neapolitan entrepreneur, headed the luxury yacht builder Cantieri Navali Rodriguez until 1990. That year, he decided to commission a sailing yacht for himself. While searching for the right shipyard to bring his vision to life, Persico discovered Cenmarine in Cape Town through the design of Aga Jari by renowned naval architect Ron Holland. In 1991, he acquired Cenmarine and established Southern Wind, a luxury sailing yacht builder. With a staff of over 320 skilled professionals and a well-equipped shipyard, Southern Wind specialized in crafting composite sailing yachts that blend cutting-edge technology with exceptional craftsmanship.

SWCAT90 is a 27- meter carbon-composite sailing catamaran blending Southern Wind’s performance with exceptional comfort and space. Featuring 171 sqm interior, 45 sqm panoramic salon, and 207 sqm deck with dual cockpits and flybridge, it has four guest cabins and up to three crew cabins. High-performance sails, curved daggerboards, and full customization make it ideal for luxury cruising and long-range autonomy.

SW 96

SW96 is a 31-meter composite performance sailing yacht combining Farr Yacht Design’s sleek hull lines with Nauta Design’s award-winning interiors. SW100X AllSeas is a 30.5-meter performance explorer sailing yacht designed by Farr Yacht Design and Nauta Design. Featuring a low-wetted-surface hull, versatile deck layouts, and the innovative Seaside Lounge with beach club and tender garage, it has four ensuite cabins, a spacious salon, and flexible interior configurations. SW123 is Southern Wind’s 37-meter flagship Smart Custom sailing yacht, blending Farr Yacht Design’s performance with Nauta Design’s luxurious interiors. Featuring versatile keel, deck (GT/X-Crossover), and interior configurations, she has four guest cabins, spacious social areas, and a beach club transom with tender garage.
