OCEANCO HISTORY
Founded in 1987 by South African investors under Richard Hein, Oceanco began by crafting hulls in Durban and finishing yachts in the Netherlands. Its inaugural 50-meter ANEDIGMI (later extended to 57 meters as THE WELLESLEY) established a legacy of meticulous craftsmanship. Under Greek magnate Theodore Angelopoulos in 2002, the yard shifted focus to 80-meter-plus megayachts, debuting the acclaimed Y Generation series. In 2010, Omani billionaire Mohammed Al Barwani advanced Oceanco’s ambitions, overseeing iconic projects such as BLACK PEARL and KORU, and expanding Alblasserdam to simultaneously build multiple superyachts over 80 meters. In August 2025, American entrepreneur Gabe Newell acquired the shipyard, preserving its heritage while integrating innovative technological expertise. Today, Oceanco unites visionary design, precision engineering, and artisanal mastery, producing superyachts that exemplify exclusivity, sophistication, and innovation for the world’s most discerning owners.
OCEANCO PHILOSOPHY
Oceanco's philosophy is founded on a steadfast commitment to sustainability, quality, and innovation. Rather than imitating existing icons, they create new benchmarks, delivering vessels that redefine technical achievement, efficiency, and design. The shipyard provides maintenance, refits, and enhancements for clients’ yachts, so that each vessel evolves to meet the changing needs and tastes of its owner, in addition to offering support throughout the construction process. By combining craftsmanship, sustainability, and forward-thinking design, Oceanco is dedicated to developing yachts that are exceptional, adaptable, and timeless.
