HATTERAS HISTORY
Hatteras Yachts embarked on its journey in 1959, founded by Willis Slane in North Carolina. The brand shook up the industry with Knit Wits—a revolutionary 12.4-meter fiberglass yacht designed by Jack Hargrave. This model proved that fiberglass could surpass wood in both strength and durability, reshaping the boating industry forever. Over the years, Hatteras has built a reputation for innovation, expert craftsmanship, and outstanding offshore performance. When ownership transitioned in 2021 to White River Marine Group, the brand continued the Hatteras tradition while looking toward a future of advanced technology and design. Today, Hatteras stands as a proud emblem of American creativity—resilient, timeless, and forward-looking.
