CHRISTENSEN SHIPYARDS HISTORY

In 1982, Dave Christensen, a retired home builder and real estate developer from Vancouver, Washington, bought a 24-meter motor yacht and, after encountering issues, decided to build his own using a Westport hull. Before completion, he sold the yacht, recognizing the potential of boatbuilding. This led him to officially establish Christensen Shipyard in 1985, opening a year later. Over more than three decades, the yard delivered 44 custom luxury fiberglass yachts, earning a reputation as one of America’s premier superyacht builders. Production ceased in 2020, but Christensen Yachts’ legacy endures, with their vessels increasingly sought after in the brokerage market.

CHRISTENSEN SHIPYARDS MODEL LINES

Christensen Yachts specialized in semi-custom yachts over 40 meters using composite materials. Renowned for superior craftsmanship, quiet foam-cored structures, and high-end interiors, each yacht was fully custom, often featuring noted designers. Christensen developed series hull molds up to 50 meters, maintaining flexibility and high quality through its in-house expertise. Notable launches included the 59.68‑meter Casino Royale (2008) and 48.77‑meter Odessa (2009), both with Carol Williamson interiors. In 2012, an alliance with Ocean Alexander and Evan K. Marshall produced the 36.9‑meter Ocean Alexander 120 Megayacht, the first of a tri-deck series up to 47.2 meters.
