Benetti is one of the “oldest” and best-known luxury yachting brands. Benetti’s history goes back to the merger of two established Italian yards: Fratelli Benetti, founded in Viareggio in 1873, and Fratelli Orlando, founded in Livorno in 1866. Originally, the Benetti yard built wooden merchant vessels. After World War II, the yard switched over to building cruising ships from steel.
In the early 1960s, Benetti moved over from wood to steel and starts building superyachts. The success exceeded the wildest expectations of its founders! By the middle 1980s, the company already had an impressive fleet with yachts ranging from 30 to 60 meters. The flagship of the Benetti fleet became its 86-meter Nabila that was built on request of Saudi businessman Adnan Khashoggi, who wanted to have the most luxurious and modern yacht that was possible to build at that time.
Benetti has always positioned itself as a boutique company for the world elite
After 111 years of being a family business, in 1985, the Benetti yard was bought by the Azimut Group owned by Paolo Vitelli.
Since 2000, the company has been actively introducing new technologies in shipbuilding and was one of the first to use light composite materials.
Benetti today is the embodiment of unique style and quality. The brand’s hallmark is being true to the shipbuilding traditions, the use of the latest innovations, and Italian-style luxurious interiors.
The company specializes in building custom and semi-custom yachts, providing assistance and support to clients during the whole construction period, being keenly responsive to all requirements, and allowing them to make changes in the process of work.
